The Farmhouse Rest Home prides itself in a comprehensive socialisation schedule for all residents living there. Meaningful activities are promoted on a daily basis to maintain the residents independence and to enable them to continue living their life to its full. The activities coordinator works closely with the residents to write a detailed plan that promotes their individuality, hobbies and interests – supporting them to continue achieving these essential parts of their life. Community events and outings are frequent and planned in advance to meet the individuals needs and to encourage participation. These are conducted either on a 1:1 basis (such as shopping, a pub lunch or simply a walk in the park) or a large group outing (such as a day at the zoo, blackpool trip, a visit to Llandudno etc), where all services within the Loomer Medical Group can participate and enjoy the day out together – breaking usual ‘routines’. There are fundraising events held to enable the activities coordinator to raise money for the activities fund and the residents choose how this is spent (a greenhouse, gardening equipment, indoor games, arts and crafts, entertainment etc). Residents have a say in everything that happens within the home, from making choices of which staff to employ (the residents conduct the interviews), where they would like to go on their day trips and they decide on the fixtures, furniture and decoration around the home. With full involvement from families and loved ones, The Farmhouse Rest Home encourages activities to suit every individual living there.
